More details and images of smart #1 bound for Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: We wrote about the smart #1 in April and this time distributor Pro-Net has more photos and details to share about the model that's bound for Malaysia.

It's one more electric car to add to a growing list of such vehicles that are making inroads into Malaysia.

Interior images of the #1 in Premium trim are now the right-hand drive version unlike the one we wrote about earlier.

Among key features Malaysian customers will get in the #1 are 12.8-inch floating LCD touchscreen, 10-inch colour HUD, Beats stereo system, Qi wireless charging and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

In addition, seats will be leathered up with front seats ventilated.

Conceived by the Mercedes-Benz global design team, the #1’s simple yet elegant features include a floating sunroof, concealed door handles and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Other premium touches are Matrix LED Headlamps with Adaptive High Beam, illuminated front grille, frameless windows and powered tailgate with kick sensor.

Based on Geely’s EV-specific SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform and staying true to smart’s long-standing drive for practicality, efficiency and style, the #1 exploits its 2.750mm wheelbase to the max with a spacious five-seat cabin and up to 411 litres of luggage space thanks to a standard sliding second row (986 litres with the rear seats folded down).

As with some electric cars, the #1 also has a frunk, which measures 15-litres under the bonnet to add more storage.

With a drag coefficient of just 0.29 Cd, the sleek lines and flowing curves of the #1 are for far more than just show, however, optimising the car’s aerodynamic efficiency and maximising its range.

Pro-Net, a Proton subsidiary, will launch the car in Q4 this year.
