Neta V enters at RM100,000, cheapest EV for now
By CARSIFU | 25 October 2023SHANGHAI: Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Neta Auto has expanded its global presence with the launch of its Neta V model in Malaysia and Indonesia.
In Malaysia, Neta collaborated with the Go Auto Group to launch the Neta V model in Putrajaya. The Malaysian pure electric vehicle market has experienced rapid growth in recent years, and Neta said it aims to offer Malaysians a wider range of choices with its classic models.
The launch ceremony marks Neta's official entry into the green mobility market in Malaysia.
The fully imported Neta V is priced at RM100,000 (on-the-road without insurance), making it the cheapest electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia followed by the BYD Dolphin.
The Neta V uses a 38.54 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery to power a 94hp/160Nm electric motor in front. NEDC range is 380km, and top speed is 120kph.
AC charging at up to 6.6kW is cited at eight hours, while 100kW DC charging from 20% to 80 is said to require only 30 mins.
Safety kit includes two airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, antilock braking system with electronic brake assist, hill start assist, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring sensors.
A 10-year/200,000km warranty is provided for the Neta V body, while general parts are covered by a 5-year/150,000km warranty. In addition, Neta offers an 8-year/180,000km warranty on the battery and high-voltage parts.
The Neta V is expected to be locally assembled towards the end of 2024 via a subsidiary of glove maker Careplus Group Bhd. Note that the Neta V for the local market is a pre-facelift model as the Neta V had undergone a refresh a few months ago in its Chinese home market.
Neta made a strong impression at the 2023 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show and has also now announced the start of sales in Indonesia.
Neta is partnering with local company PT Handal Indonesia Motor to begin localised production in Indonesia from the second quarter of 2024.
Neta's global expansion began in Thailand in 2022, and the company has since achieved annual sales exceeding 150,000 vehicles, making it a leader among new energy vehicle enterprises in China.
In 2023, Neta fully deployed its overseas operations and has already gained a significant market share in the pure electric vehicle market in Thailand. The company is gradually entering markets in the Middle East, North Africa, and South America.
Neta has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to establish a global sales network covering 50 countries by 2024, with 500 overseas sales and service outlets.
The company aims to achieve overseas sales of 100,000 vehicles in the coming year.
