SIBU: The Sibu flyover, which is part of the Pan Borneo Highway project, is now open to road users.

Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said with Gawai less than a week away on June 1, the public can now travel with ease.

"The opening of the flyover is timely, especially with Gawai just around the corner," he said when visiting the site earlier today.

He said this flyover can be used by vehicles from Bintulu to Kuching without using the roundabout.

Likewise, he said, vehicles from Sibu Airport to Bintulu can also use the highway.

"This makes it easier for users without having to use the roundabout. This project is finally completed albeit a delay," he added.

Asked about the cost of the flyover, he said it cost RM950mil with the route starting from the flyover up to Sungai Kua with a distance of 45.6km.

Nanta also reminded road users to obey traffic rules such as the speed limit.

"Drive according to the set speed limit of 90kph. Don't see this road as a perfect (excuse) to drive fast," said the Kapit MP.
