New Aston Martin V12 Vantage Final Edition coming in 2022

LONDON: Aston Martin says a new V12 Vantage is coming in 2022, and it will use a version of the brand's twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 engine.

It's also believed to be the last of its kind as Aston Martin has said it will be known as a Final Edition.

A teaser video that came with the press release gave a clue of how guttural and sweet the engine sounded.

It's very likely that the V12 Vantage would share the same underpinnings as the V12 Speedster, which has been gifted a 690hp mill. Whether the V12 Vantage would get the same state of tune or better remains a question mark.

The last V12 Vantage had a manual gearbox mated to an aspirated V12 that made 510hp. Some form of automatic transmission is certainly going to be used in the next V12 Vantage.

Aston Martin had previously said that the V12 engine would be retired, and that the company would rely only on engines from Mercedes-AMG. That was coming from its new CEO Tobias Moers, who formerly headed AMG, and was brought in last year to shake up the boutique British car maker.
