New electrified BMW 1 Series unveiled

MUNICH: BMW has unveiled the new 1 Series, which will officially launch in October 2024.

With a focus on sporty performance and sustainability, it features efficient engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology and is produced using processes designed to conserve resources and recycle materials.

The model reflects a progressive character with a redesigned interior, expanded automated driving and parking systems, and the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect, based on BMW Operating System 9.

The BMW 1 Series will be produced at the BMW Group plant in Leipzig.

Germany is the primary market, with significant sales also expected in other European countries and Japan.

The 1 Series maintains typical BMW proportions, including a long bonnet, passenger cell set back, dynamic roofline, and powerful rear end.

It has slightly increased dimensions compared to its predecessor, with an exterior length of 4,361 mm, wheelbase of 2,670 mm, width of 1,800 mm, and height of 1,459 mm.

The front end is lower, and the radiator grille features vertical and diagonal bars.

Standard LED headlights and optional adaptive LED headlights are included.

The body paintwork is available in two solid and seven metallic finishes, with additional BMW Individual paint finishes. A high-gloss black roof paint finish is also available for the first time.

The M Sport Package enhances the BMW 1 Series' dynamic appearance with large air intakes, side skirts, and a rear diffuser element.

The M135 xDrive, the top model, features a 221 kW/300 hp engine, Adaptive M Chassis, sport steering, and all-wheel drive, accelerating from 0 to 100kph in 4.9 seconds. It includes an M Technology Package with suspension components, lightweight measures, and 19-inch forged wheels.

The leather-free interior offers a modern, premium ambience with space for five occupants. Newly designed seats, including sport seats and M sport seats, are available with various materials and adjustments.

Heated seats, electric adjustments, lumbar support, and optional massage function are offered. The storage space can be increased from 380 litres to 1,200 litres by folding down the rear seat backrests.

The interior features high-quality surfaces, a redesigned gear selector, and the BMW Curved Display, comprising a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display.

The cockpit has reduced buttons and controls, with digital air conditioning control.
