Purosangue and Roma Spider enter as new local Ferrari distributor Ital Auto Malaysia opens KL showroom
By JAY WONG | 22 November 2023KUALA LUMPUR: Ferrari's new official importer and distributor, Ital Auto Malaysia Sdn Bhd, has opened the doors to its first showroom in the country.
At the opening, the company also unveiled two new offerings – the 2+ drop-top Ferrari Roma Spider priced from RM3.2mil (with duties and taxes) and the Prancing Horse's first-ever four-door, four-seater Purosangue priced from RM5mil.
The event was attended by Ferrari Far East and Middle East Hub president Dieter Knechtel, Ital Auto Malaysia executive director Zahir Kelvin Ong Abdullah and Ital Auto Malaysia general manager Damien Woo.
Located in the city centre at the Four Seasons Place on Jalan Ampang, the 3,826 sq ft showroom is open daily from 10am to 7pm on weekdays and from 10am to 4pm on weekends.
The showroom boasts of the latest corporate identity from the Italian brand with the prancing horse along with two vehicle display bays.
Complementing the lounge area is a Heritage Library that complements the lounge area and provides a wide selection of reading materials specially curated for everyone - from casual fans to those who deem themselves worthy to be associated with the "Tifosi" (fans).
Included within the showroom floor is a Ferrari Atelier dedicated to new owners who will undergo the personalisation process.
This section showcases the plethora of possibilities ranging from optional colours to equipment and materials that can be combined with available Ferrari Tailor Made personalisation services.
The Purosangue and Roma Spider are available for viewing and are accompanied by a seven-year extended warranty along with a seven-year maintenance programme that covers all regular maintenance - 20,000km service interval or one year regardless of mileage.
The programme is available to owners of pre-owned Ferrari vehicles as well.
Maintenance will be carried out at Ital Auto Malaysia's dedicated service centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam which has been stocked with genuine spare parts and manned by Certified Master Technicians with over 10 years of experience.
The Roma Spider boasts of a 3,855cc twin-turbo 90-degree V8 engine - managed by an eight-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission (DCT), that drinks from an 80-litre fuel tank.
With RON98 petrol, the engine can produce 620hp from 5,750 to 7,500rpm and 760Nm of torque from 3,000 to 5,750rpm, enabling the Roma Spider to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 3.4 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of over 320kph.
Its front 390x34mm and rear 360x32mm disc brakes will bring the Roma Spider to a complete stop from 200kph in 130m.
This drop-top 2+ seater rolls on 20-inch wheels that wear front 245/35 and rear 285/35 Pirelli P Zero tyres.
Dimensionally, the Roma Spider with its 255-litre boot, weighs in at 1,556kg (dry, with optional lightweight content) and has a 48:52 weight distribution - all while measuring 4,656mm long, 1,974mm wide and 1,306mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,670mm.
For those wanting a high performance four-seater, the Purosangue (Italian for Thoroughbred) comes with a 6,496cc 65-degree V12 engine that delivers 725hp at 7,750rpm and 716Nm of torque at 8,250rpm.
Just like the Roma Spider, the engine is mid-mounted at the front with the same eight-speed F1 DCT managing power delivery, allowing a 0-100kph sprint in 3.3 seconds before reaching a top speed above 310kph.
The front 398x38mm and rear 380x34mm disc brakes can bring this 2,033kg (dry) Ferrari Utility Vehicle to a standstill from 200kph in 129m.
The front wheels are the 22-inch size with 255/35 Pirelli P Zero tyres while the 23-inch rear wheels use 315/30 tyres.
This "thoroughbred" features back-hinged rear doors and comes with a wheelbase 3,018mm is 4,973mm long, 2,028mm wide and 1,589mm tall, while boot size is 473 litres.
"The Purosangue and Roma Spider are two models that have positively diversified Ferrari's product mix since their respective introductions," said Knechtel.
Zahir, meanwhile, said Malaysia has a thriving community of Ferrari owners and it was important to set up the showroom in the heart of the city.
