New locally-assembled and updated Porsche Cayenne unveiled

KUALA LUMPUR: Porsche Malaysia has unveiled to the public its new locally-assembled Porsche Cayenne sports utility vehicle priced from RM599,999.

The popular model, dubbed sports car for five, is refined for more luxury and performance, featuring a highly digitalised display and control concept, new chassis technology and an enhanced local specification.

It now comes with new features such as a newly designed bonnet power dome, front apron with large air intakes, higher and more arched wings, matrix LED headlights, redesigned tail lights with 3D light elements, rear apron with integrated licence plate holder, tailgate with emphasis on width and 20-inch Cayenne design wheels.

Available colours are Chromite Black Metallic, Carrara White Metallic and Quarzite Grey Metallic with black or black and Bordeaux red leather interior.

Inside, the updated items include a new 12.6-inch curved display, a multifunction sports steering wheel with shift paddles and mode switch, and a centre console with a climate control panel.

Also included in the standard equipment package are Adaptive Cruise Control, soft-close doors, Sport Chrono Package, Bose Surround Sound System and a smartphone tray with inductive charging.

Meanwhile, the adaptive air suspension system features 2-chamber and 2-valve technology to provide improved ride comfort and handling performance.

Powering the Cayenne is a 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine that has been tweaked to deliver 353PS and 500Nm of torque or 13PS and 50Nm of torque higher than previously.

The Cayenne can complete the 0-100kph dash in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 248kph.

Elevated standard equipment levels from the previous locally-assembled Cayenne are also retained, among them the 14-way electric comfort seats with memory package, Porsche crests embossed on the front seat headrests, four-zone climate control and electric roll-up sun blinds for the rear windows.

The Cayenne also comes with options for further personalisation, among them the 21-inch Cayenne Exclusive Design wheels priced at RM45,000 and 22-inch Sport Design wheels (RM49,000), and lifestyle-oriented Tequipment accessories such as Rear Seat Entertainment.

For off-road enthusiasts, the Porsche Tequipment accessories also offer a roof tent and performance roof box as well as rear bike carrier options.

Porsche Asia Pacific chief executive officer Hannes Ruoff said the new locally-assembled Cayenne arrives in Malaysia just months after its global debut which underlines the importance of the Malaysian market and the wider Asean region.

“The new Cayenne features one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche, and with this enhanced specification made specifically for Malaysia, we hope to fulfil more sports car dreams for our customers and fans here,” he said.

Sime Darby Auto Performance chief executive officer Christopher Hunter said the new Cayenne features a range of enhanced standard equipment specifically catered to Malaysian customers.

“The Cayenne is one of the most popular luxury SUVs in the region, proving its credentials time and time again through strong customer demand,” he said.

The Cayenne is available to order via a seamless digital platform at mycayenne.online.

The public can view the new Cayenne at The International Gallery at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club from 9am to 4pm on Oct 7 and 8.
