PETALING JAYA: The new Maserati Ghibli and Ghibli S are now available in Malaysia, two months after their official debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The petrol-based Ghibli and Ghibli S are priced from RM618,800 and RM708,800 (prices include local duties and taxes) respectively.

Both versions feature the Ferrari-built, Euro 6, twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 powerplant paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, which features the Start/Stop function.

More power
The Ghibli now delivers 350hp, 20hp more than the previous model year, an increased top speed of 267kph, and a 0 to 100kph time of just 5.5 seconds.

The Ghibli S, with its power output of 410hp, accelerates from 0-100kph in 5.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 285kph.

The Ghibli shares parts of its core architecture – chassis, suspension layout, V6 engines and ZF 8-speed automatic transmission – with the Quattroporte. It is, however, 293mm shorter and 50kg lighter than the flagship Italian saloon.

According to Maserati, the two Ghiblis offer precise handling as a result of their 50:50 weight distribution, a limited slip differential, and a sophisticated suspension system. The Ghibli has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP collision rating.

Exterior
The exterior coupe design has several unique features such as the distinctive C-pillar that bears the iconic “Saetta” logo, the frameless doors, the pronounced grille reminiscent of iconic Maseratis of the 1950’s, and the four chrome-plated exhaust pipes on all versions.

The Luxury and Sport packages personalise the exterior finish. With the Luxury package, the Ghibli’s cabin is made even more refined, thanks to the Zegna Edition Silk and Premium Leather upholstery. The Sport package, in contrast, harks to the racing heritage of the brand and is recognisable through the new sports seats and sports steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles. Two Carbon packages, one with exterior and the other with interior elements, are now available as a further customisation option and an upgrade for the Sport package.

Interior
The 2017 Ghiblis feature substantial upgrades as well as new technical content. The central dashboard has been redesigned to accommodate a high-resolution 8.4” screen with multi touch technology. The infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions. The new design also features a rotary knob to control the main functions.

To further increase the customisability for Maserati’s models, specific luxury and sports options are available for the Ghibli.

From a technological standpoint, a new package of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is available which includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist, and Automated Emergency Braking. An additional Surround View Camera is available in combination with the ADAS package.

Cabin insulation is also improved to minimise noise. An air quality sensor is now standard equipment to further improve passenger comfort.

Naza World Group of Companies group executive chairman Datuk Wira Haji SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin said the Ghibli is the bestseller among the Maseratis line-up in Malaysia. The brand is distributed by Naza Italia.

The Ghibli is backed by a 3-year/60,000km service package.
