New Porsche Panamera showcases driver-centred concept

STUTTGART: Porsche is introducing an innovative control concept in the new Panamera, focusing on putting the driver at the centre of the experience.

The Porsche Driver Experience control concept, first introduced in the Taycan, offers a fully digital display and intuitive operation.

The control elements relevant for driving are grouped near the steering wheel, making them quick and easy to access. This simplifies operation, especially during dynamic driving.

To enhance the driver-centered experience, Porsche has placed the toggle switch for navigating options and the mode switch for selecting driving programs directly on the steering wheel.

The gear selector lever is located next to it, creating space on the center console for an elegant climate control panel. The panel combines touch surfaces and physical switches, providing an intuitive and elegant solution.

The centre console also features new electrically adjustable air vents and an expanded storage bin.

The digital instrument cluster, with its curved and free-standing design, emphasises the driver's key role. The 12.6-inch display can be configured in different ways, depending on the equipment and selected view. Additionally, an optional head-up display can be operated directly from the sports steering wheel.

Continuous ambient lighting along the entire panel highlights the breadth of the vehicle. Improved seat foam materials enhance comfort, and the executive models feature a newly contoured rear seat system for optimised seating positions.

Porsche offers a wide selection of colour and material options for the new Panamera, including bi-colour designs.

Decor and accent options further refine the interior ambience, with some exclusive options offered by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. For the first time, Porsche is also offering leather-free equipment, combining sporty materials like Race-Tex and Pepita fabric.

The third-generation Panamera will make its world premiere in Dubai on Nov 24.

It will be offered with turbocharged V6 and V8 engines as well as four plug-in hybrid variants or E-Hybrids. This will be the final generation of a combustion engined Panamera before the model goes fully electric by the end of the decade.

The basis of all E-Hybrid variants of the new Panamera is a more powerful electric motor that is now completely integrated in the transmission housing of the new dual clutch transmission.

It offers higher drivetrain and recuperation performance values than its predecessor at a lower weight.

Its energy is provided by a high voltage battery with a significantly higher capacity of 25.9 kWh. An on-board charger with a power of 11 kW shortens the charging time despite the increased energy content.

Fundamental revisions of the combustion engines facilitate additional efficiency and performance. All the drivetrains in the new Panamera are prepared for future emission standards.
