PRAGUE: Škoda is set to unveil its fourth-generation Superb in November, 90 years after the launch of its historic first model.

The new model combines a striking design concept with advanced technology, making it safer and more spacious.

It will be available with three petrol engines, two diesels, a plug-in hybrid with an increased electric range of over 100km, and a mild hybrid for the first time.

The Superb also features 28 Simply Clever ideas, including 10 airbags, numerous assistance systems, and a centre console without shift lever.

All models are fitted with an automatic DSG transmission as standard. The gearshift lever on the steering column frees up space on the centre console, providing drivers with even more comfort and storage space.

The new-generation Superb also includes 28 unique features, such as an electrically controlled roller blind acting as a luggage compartment cover, a centre armrest with an integrated tablet holder, and a double storage pocket on the back of each front seat.

The integrated funnel in the windscreen washer reservoir cap is a first for the Superb.

The Superb has gained popularity in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland, with over 1.5 million units sold worldwide.

The interior has been redesigned with a focus on customer centricity and an optimal user experience.

The cockpit now features a new architecture that combines manual and digital controls, while the infotainment display measures up to 12.9". The center console has a clean and uncluttered design, with the gearshift lever mounted on the steering column.

The new Superb is available as an elegant hatchback with a practical tailgate and an estate version.

The lighting design at the front and rear has become more dynamic, with tail lights being more slender and crystalline elements amplifying their three-dimensional appearance.

The Škoda Superb iV offers a range of electric vehicles with a maximum output of 204 hp (150 kW) and a 6-speed DSG. The high-voltage battery has grown from 12.7 kWh to 25.7 kWh, allowing for a purely electric range of over 100km.

The car also offers DC charging with a maximum rate of 50 kW and 2.3 kW from a 230-V household socket. The Superb iV's fuel tank holds 45 litres, and the entry-level 1.5 TSI with mild-hybrid technology has 150 hp (110 kW).

The top petrol engine comes with all-wheel drive, while the most powerful diesel has a 2.0 TDI with 193 hp (142 kW).

All petrol and diesel engines are mated to a 7-speed DSG, and all six powertrain options meet the Euro 6e emissions standard.

The new Superb has several new or enhanced assistance systems, including Turn Assist and Crossroad Assist. Turn Assist warns of potential collisions with oncoming vehicles when turning into side streets and automatically applies the brakes.

Crossroad Assist uses radar sensors in the front bumper to detect cross-traffic at intersections where visibility may be impaired and issues an acoustic alert along with a visual warning.

The Front Assist system now looks out for cyclists, thanks to the Predictive Cyclist Protection feature. The new Top View uses four cameras for 360-degree monitoring of the vehicle's surroundings, with improved image resolution.

The Superb boasts 10 airbags for high passive safety, including driver and front passenger airbags, front side and head airbags, driver's knee airbags, and a central airbag between front seats.

Optional side airbags are available for outer rear seats.

The modern-day Superb, produced between 1934 and 1949, has over 1,560,000 units delivered worldwide and has won numerous international awards from top European car magazines.
