Toyota Supra bids farewell with boosted power: Now packing 429hp (+47) and 570Nm (+70)

TOKYO: Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) has announced the Supra A90 Final Edition, a limited-edition model marking the culmination of the current-generation Supra.

The special edition will be limited to 300 units and is set for a global release, with sales beginning in Japan and Europe from spring 2025.

Simultaneously, Toyota has revealed a partially upgraded version of the 3.0-litre Supra, also scheduled for gradual global release starting the same year.

Since its inception in 1978, the Supra has drawn a dedicated following for its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and inline-six engine.

After a 17-year hiatus, the Supra returned in 2019 under the leadership of Akio Toyoda, Toyota's chairman and a self-proclaimed Supra enthusiast.

The A90 generation has evolved since its launch, with updates in 2020 and 2022. Now, TGR aims to round off this chapter with upgraded performance and features.

The partially upgraded 3.0-litre Supra incorporates enhancements for improved handling and safety. Updates include a more rigid chassis, optimised suspension, and stronger Brembo front brakes. Exterior changes, such as a carbon-fibre ducktail spoiler and redesigned aerodynamic elements, improve stability and downforce. Interior updates feature GR-branded Alcantara seats, red-accented stitching, and sporty styling details.

The A90 Final Edition takes performance to another level, emphasizing its motorsport pedigree. The BMW-derived engine output has been boosted to 435PS (429hp, up 47hp) with 570Nm (up 70Nm) of torque, aided by optimised intake and exhaust systems.

A KW adjustable suspension system, larger Brembo brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres improve handling and braking.

Aerodynamic enhancements, including a carbon-fibre rear wing and hood duct, enhance downforce and cooling efficiency.

The limited-edition model’s interior reflects its racing inspiration, featuring Rcaro carbon-fibre bucket seats, red accents, and extensive use of Alcantara. Exclusive details, such as engraved TGR logos on lightweight wheels and carbon-fibre scuff plates, underline its premium status.

The Supra A90 Final Edition is seen as a farewell to the current-generation Supra. Toyota Gazoo Racing confirmed plans to continue honing the Supra through motorsport activities as it strives to elevate performance-driven engineering.
