New Volvo EX90 and XC90 flagship models to launch locally

KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia will launch two new "90" flagship seven-seater sports utility vehicle models this year.

The launch dates for both the EX90 and XC90 will be announced via the brand’s website.

The all-electric EX90 was first announced in 2022 and is designed to be the safest Volvo ever made with active safety technologies both inside and outside the car.

The EX90 gets a few firsts including the first to incorporate lidar, the first to be built with Volvo Cars Superset core computing tech stack, and the first Volvo car built with hardware in anticipation of fully autonomous driving.

Global customer deliveries of the EX90 started at the end of last year and Malaysia will be the first in the Asia Pacific market to receive the advanced model after Thailand.

Meanwhile, the XC90 which was the first plug-in hybrid vehicle to be locally-assembled in 2016, has been refreshed for the electric age.

Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Chris Wailes said customers could choose either "90" flagship models that suits their lifestyle and needs.

"Regardless of whether you want the best-ever safety technology in a fully electric vehicle, or whether you want to upgrade to the latest version of our iconic SUV awarded multiple times over, there is a '90' flagship model to best suit your life and your lifestyle," he said.
