Next Lexus NX teased ahead of June 12 world debut

TOKYO: Lexus has released a teaser image of the all-new NX ahead of its digital world premiere on June 12.

The image, set to a backdrop of Mt Fuji, shows the rear view of the crossover sporting a full width lightbar as part of its new feature set.

Word from the grapevine is that the new NX will be based on Toyota’s global luxury platform. The platform allows for the use of a 302hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and a 3.5-litre V6.

However, a set of photos had already been leaked earlier this year showing how the crossover looks inside and out.

The pictures show the new NX to have a smoother body. The yawning Lexus grille is flanked by cleaner-looking headlights combining arrowhead s that are now above the headlights instead of being separate and below the headlights as seen in the first-generation NX.

As is the trend, the new NX will get a fully digital instrument cluster and a huge infotainment touchscreen with a landscape orientation.

Not everything is digital, and that's a smart approach to take in cockpit design. The air-conditioner will retain physical buttons for ease of use.

The new NX will debut at noon, JST (11am in Malaysia) on June 12 at a dedicated website.
