Nissan’s N7 electric sedan tops 20,000 orders in China 50 days after launch

GUANGZHOU: Nissan’s Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company, has secured over 20,000 orders for the all-new N7 battery-electric sedan, reaching this milestone just 50 days after sales began on April 27.

The first customer deliveries started on May 15. The N7 is the first of nine new-energy vehicles Nissan plans to launch in China by mid-2027 as part of its Re:Nissan recovery plan.

Aimed at young families, the N7 is attracting a largely new customer base: 70% of buyers are under 35 and purchasing a Nissan for the first time.

Two battery options are available—a 58 kWh pack and an upgraded 73 kWh unit—offering a claimed maximum CLTC range of up to 635km.

Driver assistance is led by Navigate on Autopilot, an end-to-end highway pilot co-developed with Beijing-based autonomy specialist Momenta. The car also features AI-driven “zero-pressure” seats that use sensor data to customize posture support for each occupant.

Three trim levels are offered: Max, Pro, and the entry-level Air. Prices range from 119,900 yuan to 149,900 yuan (between RM71,000 and RM89,000). Max and Pro trims can be paired with either battery.

Dongfeng Nissan credits the strong demand to the vehicle’s comfort features, trusted brand reputation, and competitive pricing.

To support this growth, the company is revamping its sales network, having opened over 100 dedicated new-energy distribution centers and 500 order hubs across China. These operate on a “separate order, delivery and after-sales” model designed to reduce lead times.

The automaker’s smartphone app has also been enhanced to facilitate service bookings, real-time repair tracking, and a user community forum.

Managing director Isao Sekiguchi described the N7 as a “new starting point” for Dongfeng Nissan, promising a “more diverse and exciting automotive lifestyle” for customers. The model has been approved for export, with additional markets to be announced.

The N7 lineup features either a 160 kW or 200 kW single front motor powered by lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. Under ideal conditions, the battery can fast-charge from 30% to 80% in 14 minutes and supports 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load discharge for external power use.

Inside, higher trims include suede-like microfibre, Alcantara-style upholstery, and “Cloud Comfort” seating, while all versions share a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen running Nissan OS.

The Max trim upgrades the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip from the 8155 to the more powerful 8295P and adds a Level 2+ autonomous driving suite developed jointly by Nissan and Momenta.
