KUALA LUMPUR: Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia previewed two incoming sport utility vehicle (SUV) models during the launch of its first-ever technology and lifestyle showcase – the Omoda | Jaecoo Carnival at Desa Parkcity here.
The two models are the compact B-segment Jaecoo J5 SUV and the full-size D-segment Omoda C9 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
The J5 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 147PS and 210Nm, while paired to a continuously variable transmission, fuel consumption has been rated at 7.5 litres per 100km (WLTC).

J5.
With an estimated price that starts from RM120,000, the compact J5 SUV is touted to feature faux leather upholstery, an 8.0-inch instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen unit that powers an eight-speaker audio system.
Also fitted is a panoramic moonroof as well as TÜV-certified pet-friendly materials and a 480-litre boot space that's expandable to 1,180 litres with the rear seats folded.

J5.
Other notable mentions include Level 2.5 advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) and a 540-degree surround-view camera system for added safety.
As for the Omoda C9 PHEV - the brand’s most powerful model – is expected to be priced around the RM220,000 mark.

C9.
First driven in South Africa, the luxury SUV utilises a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that's supplemented by three electric motors for an all-wheel-drive (AWD) affair.
The combined systems output has been rated at 605PS and 915Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 4.9 seconds.

Equipped with a 34.46kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, it is said to provide up to 150km of pure electric vehicle (EV) range and a total of up to 1,100km.
However, a potential of up to 1,190km could be achieved during the South African drive.

C9.
The battery is able to accommodate up to a 70kW DC fast-charger or a more conservative 6.6kW AC charger.
Other features include a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension system with seven drive modes, as well as heated and ventilated front seats.

Aside from the previews, visitors to the carnival can peruse the SHS Experience Lab and explore the Super Hybrid System (SHS) through demonstrations and interactive displays.
The carnival, which highlights its hybrid technology to the public, is open daily from now until Aug 24 (10am to 10pm) at Car Park 3, Desa Parkcity.

Test drives for the Jaecoo J7 and flagship J8 SUVs, among others, are available from 10am to 7pm.
Outdoor food and beverage stalls are also available, along with a children's play area, and a PingMing Market – a cultural bazaar featuring artisanal goods and delicacies, among others.
