KUALA LUMPUR: The inaugural Omoda Jaecoo Technical Skills competition highlighted the Chinese automaker's commitment towards after-sales and customer care.
The competition saw the participation of over 132 technical specialists from 48 dealerships in Malaysia.
It culminated in a finale to remember, when 10 finalists went head-to-head to clinch a podium finish.
The inaugural skills competition took place at Omoda Jaecoo authorised dealer, D Champion Auto Sdn Bhd in Klang.
"We believe this shared goal of upholding world-class technical standards and customer satisfaction across the network is what drives the brand’s success for the long-term here in Malaysia," said Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia vice president Emily Lek.
After an intense finale, Wong Sau Seng from Gagner Auto Sdn Bhd clinched the National Champion title, emerging as the most well-rounded technical ace.
On his achievement, Wong said, "This was made possible by the strong support from my company and the guidance of my manager and superior, who encouraged me to keep improving myself.”
Wong will represent Malaysia in the Omoda Jaecoo World Skills Competition in China this October.
He was joined by first runner-up, Ng Chen Ton from CarShen Sdn Bhd and second runner-up Syasya Mazdiana Nor Azman from Anggerik Auto Sdn Bhd.

Syasya Mazdiana proved to be a formidable contender as the sole female technician in the finale.
She shared, "Being the only female technician in the finale is an honour that shows women can stand equal with men in the technical field. Never doubt your potential."
"The field may be challenging, but every challenge is an opportunity to prove yourself. Believe in yourself, keep learning, and be brave to step forward — the automotive world needs more great women."
Competitors were evaluated individually based on theory and practical assessments.
The theory assessment, which made up 30% of the evaluation score, showcased each technician’s degree of understanding of Omoda Jaecoo product knowledge, diagnostics, and the service process.
The practical assessment, which accounted for 70% of the evaluation score, saw technicians at the work bays demonstrate real-world troubleshooting as well as repair work quality and efficiency.
The competition's panel of judges comprised highly experienced members from the Chery Malaysia technical team.
Backed by both the technical support team and master trainers, the judging panel evaluated competitors on key performance areas namely accuracy, diagnostic processes, repair quality, and time management.
