WUHU, China: The Omoda X SUV (sport utility vehicle) has made its global debut at the 2026 Chery Group International User Summit.
The Omoda X is billed as drawing inspiration from futuristic ‘mecha culture’.
It has an assertive wide-body stance, broad shoulders, a tightly sculpted waistline and a sporty silhouette.
"It’s exciting to see the innovative products coming from our global headquarters, and the reveal of the Omoda X marks another significant step forward for the brand", said Omoda Jaecoo Australia chief commercial officer Roy Munoz.
"Combining a futuristic, rugged design with groundbreaking technology, including a thermal imaging camera, the Omoda X demonstrates our commitment to challenging conventions and pushing the boundaries of what customers can expect from a modern vehicle".

Sitting below the Omoda 9, the Omoda X measures 4,650mm long, 1,910mm wide and 1,720mm tall.
The Omoda X features 19-inch alloy wheels with rugged all-terrain tyres, 200 mm of ground clearance and a wading depth of over 700mm.
Towing capacity is rated up to 1,800kg, while the roof has a load capacity of 75kg and there’s 39 storage spaces providing more room for equipment for outdoor activities.
Inside, the design language continues with the ‘Mecha Command Cockpit’, which creates a strong sense of control through its twin-wing layout and X-shaped floating centre console.

There’s a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, while physical controls for frequently used functions such as air conditioning and driving modes bring together futuristic aesthetics and intuitive operation.
The Omoda X will have full electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Its X-Mode allows drivers to adjust vehicle settings and performance response to match their preferences.
Two-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options will also be offered.
A major first for the Omoda Jaecoo brand, the Omoda X features an infrared thermal imaging night vision system, which helps identify potential hazards up to 90 meters away, providing additional environmental awareness for nighttime driving.
