PETALING JAYA: BYD Sime Motors celebrates its third anniversary as the nation’s leading EV (electric vehicle) brand, with more than 25,000 BYD cars now on Malaysian roads.
In a statement, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia said collectively, BYD owners help reduce over 62,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
This is equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees every year — enough to circle Malaysia’s coastline more than six times.
BYD Sime Motors boasts Malaysia’s largest fully electric portfolio, with seven models launched to date.
Leading the charge is BYD Atto 3, the volume leader in the competitive C-segment SUV (sport utility vehicle) category.
In 2025, the lineup grew with two new models — BYD Atto 2 and BYD Seal 6 — plus a refreshed BYD Seal.
BYD Malaysia managing director Eagle Zhao said, “This is another milestone we’re truly proud of. To now have more than 25,000 Malaysians as part of the BYD family is incredibly rewarding, and it shows how quickly the EV movement is growing in our country.”
Sime Motors managing director of Southeast Asia Jeffrey Gan added, “In just three years, BYD has become a key pillar of Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio. We have a strong foundation to drive EV adoption through our robust sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities, and skilled EV talent.”
BYD Sime Motors’ nationwide network include 39 sales and marketing outlets and 24 aftersales service centres to date, complemented by 12 authorised body and paint centres and a centralised parts warehouse with over 4,600 line items, maintaining a 94% fill rate for industry-leading repair turnaround.
In addition, over 1,000 local employees are trained at BYD’s dedicated training centre to uphold top technical and service standards.
Looking ahead, BYD and Sime Motors' 2026 roadmap includes network expansion, advanced technology integration, and the establishment of BYD local assembly (CKD) operations.
BYD Sime Motors is offering exclusive year-end promotions, including up to RM20,000 in savings on selected BYD models.
