SUBANG JAYA: Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will implement paid parking in industrial areas under its purview from Dec 1.
“For the first phase, it will be enforced in four industrial areas, covering 3,800 parking bays,” said Subang Jaya mayor Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.
The industrial areas are PJS7 (397 bays), PJS9 (164), PJS11 (2,339) and SS13 (900) and paid parking will apply to cars and small lorries.
The fee is 50 sen per hour, similar to the street parking rate.
Payment can only be done using apps or ewallets such as Smart Selangor, Flexi Parking, Touch ‘n Go and Setel.
The mayor said a paid parking system had not been implemented in industrial areas prior to this, with charges levied only on specific parking bays.
“With parking charges imposed, traffic flow and parking management in these industrial areas will be better.
“This will also allow better street cleaning works and address the problem of abandoned vehicles.
“The parking revenue collected will go towards road maintenance,” he said after chairing the city council’s full board meeting.
