Keep your car looking good while parked in the open

As the movement control order (MCO) extends until April 28, many have been relegated to work from home since March 18 and for some vehicles, it also means that they are left out in the open to deal with the elements.

This isn't going to be a step-by-step process on car detailing, but instead, helps to provide an idea of what can be done to prove a little more "tender-loving-care" to your vehcile's painted surfaces.

In such cases where vehicles are unable to find relief from the sun, keeping it washed regularly every week will help maintain its appearance.

Some may see it as a chore, but regardless, this is an important one even if it has a ceramic coating, paint protection film or a coloured wrap on it - all of them still require tending to.

While, giving it a good wash and rinse with your preferred car shampoo would be the bare minimum to get rid of the dirt.

An extra step can be taken by applying a layer of good quality wax that will help re-vitalise and protect your vehicle's paintwork.

The wax, which is often known as a sacrificial layer, will help the paintwork resist against the elements (including bird droppings) while also giving it hydrophobic properties that makes it harder for dirt to cling to.

And at the same time, it'll help keep your vehicle looking pristine over the course ownership.

Meanwhile, this would also be a good time to raise those wiper blades up and off the windscreen.

This will help prevent the wipers from deforming as it goes through intense heat cycles that can prematurely wear out the blades to cause streaks and judders.

Finally, adding a windscreen (front and rear) sunshade to your vehicle can help significantly reduce direct heat exposure to your cabin's interior.

Couple that with a window tint will significantly help to reduce this effect and keep your dashboard, seats and interior plastic parts from premature degradation.
