Parking violation cards, anyone?

PETALING JAYA: We have all seen it before. Motorists who can't or won't park their cars/motorcycles properly in shared public spaces.

The annoying problem stems from arrogance, incompetence or just plain inconsideration.

An enterprising individual has decided to do something about it as part of his 2020 to-do list. He has designed and printed parking violation cards to be placed on vehicles that are not properly parked.

Twitter user #SyafiqUnzir is also offering the cards for sale in packs of 50 and 100, priced at RM18 and RM30 respectively.

Syafiq, who describes himself as an architect on his Twitter account, said the card idea was sparked by a man in the United States who tweeted he had received the card for bad parking.

Syafiq pointed out that the card was meant to educate the driver so that he/she would (hopefully) not repeat the mistake.

The cards are available for sale by contacting him on Twitter or through his Shopee account. His tweet has generated plenty of interest with a number of people expressing interest in buying the cards.

Using a mish-mash of Malay and English words, the card admonishes the recalcitrant driver. It effectively says "Your parking sucks" and proceeds to tell the offender he/she is a public nuisance and that the offender is either selfish or irresponsible.

Dripping with sarcasm, it then advises the offender to go back to driving school to master parking skills.

At the back are six checkboxes that list the offences that the card giver can tick to show the error of the recipient's ways.

On the front of the card, Syafiq had drawn a picture of a bewildered human face and a steering wheel with a speech bubble: "What I did? :("

He had initially sold the cards with a pig's head instead and used coarser language. He revised the design and "refined" the language following public feedback that many people would find some wordings and use of  the animal offensive.
