Perak police receive 44 Honda Civic 1.8 to boost service

IPOH: The Perak police has received a fleet of 44 Honda Civic 1.8 to beef up its patrolling duties.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain said the new cars are to improve its performance to provide better services to the public.

Comm Razarudin said the distribution of the new cars to the state police was based on the needs of the respective district police contingents.

“Prior to this, we have received 244 cars that are still in use. We now have 288 units.

“Some 180 cars, or 75%, are in use at all times, ” he said after launching and flagging off the new cars at the Federal Reserve Unit headquarters here today.

“With the additional cars, we can create an effective omnipresence and lower the fear of crime.

“It also gives the police confidence and increase the element of fear on criminals,” he added.

Among the district police contingents to get the new cars include Ipoh, Hilir Perak, Taiping, Manjung, Batu Gajah, Kuala Kangsar, Muallim, Tapah, Kampar, Perak Tengah, Sungai Siput and Kerian.

Comm Razarudin said plans are also in place to replace the Proton Inspira with Proton X70 at some districts.

“We’ve planned for the three districts, Gerik, Pengkalan Hulu and Selama, to each receive one X70 in the future as part of the second phase.

“This is based on the suitability of these vehicles on the terrain in the respective areas, ” he said.
