KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua and Maybank Islamic Bhd have partnered to introduce the country’s first Shariah-compliant agility financing plan – the Perodua Flexiplan, powered by Maybank Islamic myimpact Drive Financing-i.

A first for both companies, the plan aims to provide customers with a seamless and inclusive vehicle ownership experience.

Under the plan, customers can enjoy a competitive Murabahah Vehicle Term Financing arrangement, resulting in more affordable monthly payments over an initial five-year term.

Perodua will also buy back a customer’s vehicle at a competitive price compared to market value for the purchase of a new Perodua model – subject to terms and conditions, which include a limited annual mileage among others.

The plan also offers flexibility in ownership, allowing customers to trade in for a new model or keep their current vehicle with a revised payment plan.

Under the Flexiplan, customers may choose from four models, such as the Myvi, Axia (excluding Axia E), Ativa and Aruz.

At the end of the five-year term, customers may trade in their vehicle for a new one, using the secured residual value to offset the down payment and renew the five-year term.

Additionally, they can choose to retain their current vehicle by settling the outstanding balance or extend the financing for up to four more years, albeit at a revised plan.

“Today, both Perodua and Maybank Islamic broke new ground as we join forces to offer the best possible financing package which ensures everybody wins — Perodua, Maybank Islamic and, especially, our valued customers,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“We believe that with the backing of Malaysia’s biggest bank, combined with the trust we have earned from Malaysians, the Perodua Flexiplan will be well accepted,” he said.

Maybank group chief executive officer (community financial services) Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar said: “Across the Maybank Group, we have always been committed to empowering our customers with flexible, transparent, inclusive and sustainable financial solutions, and Maybank Islamic myimpact Drive Financing-i reflects our values-based approach to banking.

“We are proud and excited to provide this innovative approach to all Malaysians alongside Perodua - one that addresses the preferences of modern car buyers and empowers our customers with flexible ownership choices.”
