The move is said to be in line with the nation’s vision to create a high-value, competitive automotive sector under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.
Via its enterprise and government sector solutions arm, TM One, the group aims to upgrade Perodua’s infrastructure, provide fixed and wireless connectivity – including software-defined wide area network solutions, private 5G for automotive applications and smart manufacturing technologies to improve production.
TM One will also leverage its cloud, cybersecurity, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to provide initiatives for smart manufacturing, graphics processing unit as a service, EV and autonomous driving technologies.
TM group chief executive officer Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said the collaboration marks another milestone in the group’s aspiration to become a digital powerhouse by pioneering industry growth through digitalisation and opening new opportunities.
“By delivering secure, high-speed connectivity and scalable digital solutions, this partnership will support Perodua’s mission for greater innovation and growth, paving the way for a connected, sustainable future in the automotive industry,” he said in a statement.
In addition, TM and Perodua aims to expand its market reach and brand visibility via co-created products and innovative go-to market strategies.
TM said the two parties would work towards environmental sustainability, collaborating on clean energy solutions for EV charging infrastructure and waste reduction.
Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the partnership highlighted the group’s goal of modernising the automotive industry, enhancing operations and setting the standard for digital connectivity in the industry.
“There are vast opportunities for Perodua and TM to revolutionise how we do things and set benchmarks on the quality, efficiency and delivery of our products and services.
“These opportunities will become clearer as we innovate further and address the issues and needs of our operations,” he said.
