KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) and Bank Rakyat's unveiled a partnership credit card designed to support the country’s automotive ecosystem and meet the needs of vehicle owners.
Offering a number of benefits when used for automotive-related expenses, the Credit Card-i awards five times reward points on spending related to fuel, electric vehicle (EV) charging, vehicle maintenance and takaful protection purchases.
These rewards can be converted and redeemed through Perodua's P-Circle mobile app.
The card also offers 0% overseas transaction fees and no annual fee for cardholders.
Additionally, cardholders will enjoy complimentary takaful coverage for total outstanding balances of up to RM300,000, up to the age of 70, as well as RM1,000 of bereavement benefit.
Commenting on the partnership, Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the card's launch is a significant milestone for the automaker as it marks the first time they have collaborated with a banking institution to introduce a credit card.
"We will also be running a special campaign to encourage our customers to apply for the Credit Card-i through exclusive Perodua Package offers,” said Zainal.
Meanwhile, Bank Rakyat Group CEO Ahmad Shahril Mohd Shariff added that the strategic collaboration with Perodua reflects Bank Rakyat’s approach towards building an ecosystem that provides customers with more comprehensive value and rewards through the combined strengths of Islamic banking and the automotive industry.

The card is available in two exclusive designs inspired by Perodua's QV-E and the animation film character Tira featured on the P-Circle mobile app.
