The new 408 is named the 408X in China because the Peugeot range in the country already includes a model called the 408.
The new C-segment 408X has a fastback silhouette and the latest-generation Peugeot i-Cockpit, and comes with, as in Europe, two plug-in hybrid engines, delivering 180 hp and 225 hp, alongside the 130 hp PureTech petrol engine.
The 408X is produced at Peugeot Dongfeng’s factory in Chengdu, in central China and has been marketed in the country since January.

Also, for the first time in Asia, the Peugeot Inception concept car illustrating the French automaker's vision of the future, is on display in Shanghai.
Unveiled as a world premiere at CES in Las Vegas this past January, and subsequently presented in Europe, this concept car embodies Peugeot’s vision for its future electric vehicles.
