PJ cops probing video of car using red-and-blue strobe lights
By THE STAR | 22 March 2022PETALING JAYA: Police have opened investigations after a video of a car using red-and-blue strobe lights went viral.
The 13-second-video believed to be taken by a motorcyclist shows a gold Proton Preve driving with its hazard lights on and a siren can also be heard.
As the motorcyclist overtakes the vehicle, the rider turns back and strobe lights can be seen on the vehicle dashboard.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said police from the Petaling Jaya Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department lodged a report over the video at around 3pm today.
"We detected a video on social media of a Proton Preve using strobe lights while driving.
"The incident allegedly occurred along Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang here," he said in a statement today.
He said the incident was believed to have occurred at around 6.30pm on Feb 23.
"We have opened investigations under Rule 94 of the Motor Vehicles Rules (Construction and Use) as well as Rule 24(ii) of the Road Traffic Rules.
"Insp Rozilah Hussin will investigate the case further," he said.
ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin urged road users to always abide by the traffic rules and regulations to avoid any accidents and untoward incidents.
"The public is advised to not spread or share any videos or images which could cause public anxiety," he said.
