Polestar revamps strategy with Polestar 7 and active sales model
By CARSIFU | 20 January 2025
GOTHENBURG: Polestar says it will introduce the Polestar 7 as a premium compact SUV and adopt a more active sales model.
The Polestar 7 is set to target the fast-growing luxury EV segment and will be made in Europe, marking a strategic step in the company’s global expansion.
In 2025, Polestar’s line-up will also see the launch of the Polestar 5, a performance grand tourer featuring 800-volt technology. With models like the Polestar 2, and ramped-up deliveries of the Polestar 3 and 4, the company said it is building a strong global footprint, supported by its manufacturing network in the United States, South Korea and China.
Polestar’s updated active sales model combines its direct-to-consumer online platform with a 75% increase in physical retail spaces by 2026.
This year, sales will expand to France, tapping into one of Europe’s fastest-growing EV markets. Further geographical expansion across Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America is planned for 2026 and beyond.
The brand reported a 37.2% increase in Q4 2024 order intake, signalling strong momentum.
Additionally, Polestar is diversifying revenue streams with increased sales of CO2 credits, expected to generate significant annual contributions from 2025 onwards.
The company is also launching Polestar Energy in key European markets, offering smarter, more cost-efficient home charging. By leveraging bidirectional charging and customer grid support, the service aims to enhance user benefits.
Polestar sair it would continue to strengthen its global charging network, providing access to Tesla Superchargers and over 850,000 charging points in Europe.
With Geely’s ongoing support, Polestar aims for record growth, targeting a 30-35% annual increase in sales volumes and positive adjusted EBITDA by 2025.
CEO Michael Lohscheller describes the year as pivotal, positioning Polestar to transition from an iconic brand into a successful global business.
Geely's other electric and electrified sub-brands include Zeekr and Lynk & Co.
