PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a Singaporean BMW car club for holding up traffic with their huge car convoy at the Second Penang Bridge on June 9.

Seberang Perak Selatan district acting police chief DSP Mohd Norazmi Abd Ghapar said the convoy of BMW cars were headed towards Batu Maung on Penang island and said that a police report had been lodged on the matter.

He said an investigation is under way as an offence of traffic obstruction had been committed under the Road Transport Rules 1959.

"We will not compromise with anyone who commits a traffic offence."

BMW Car Club Singapore has issued an apology for the incident and has pledged to cooperate fully with Malaysian authorities.

"We sincerely apologize and acknowledge a mistake that was made on our part and to reassure everyone of our unwavering commitment to cooperation with the local authorities," it said in a post on its Facebook page.
