Police to probe MRR2 'brake check' dashcam video
By THE STAR | 06 January 2024
GOMBAK: Dashcam footage of a driver performing a "brake check" along a busy road is now being investigated by the police, says Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir.
He said in a statement today that the incident occurred along the MRR2, heading from Batu Caves towards Ampang.
ACP Noor Ariffin added that what the driver did could have led to a road accident that would have affected other road users.
"The driver then slowed down to a complete stop for several seconds before driving on. This act blocked other vehicles that were being driven on the right lane of the road," he said.
Police were notified of the incident after the video had been uploaded on social media recently.
He also urged the owner of the dashcam footage to assist the investigation by presenting themselves to the police.
The 27-second video shows a blue car being driven at speed, cutting through traffic. The dashcam owner then used her horn after the speeding car blocked her lane, leading to the "brake check".
