SEPANG: Porsche Malaysia is participating in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) 2026 with Malaysian racing talent Naquib Azlan.
Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance (Auto Performance), is fielding Malaysian sim racer-turned race driver Naquib under Team Porsche Malaysia in partnership with Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM) and Axle Motorsports.
The 26-year-old will compete in the PRO category across the full championship season.
“Motorsport is deeply rooted in Porsche’s DNA, shaped by over 75 years of racing heritage. At Porsche Malaysia, we are committed to creating meaningful platforms for local talent — whether on a virtual circuit or the real track — to pursue their passion and realise their potential," said Auto Performance CEO Christopher Hunter.
"Naquib’s progression from sim racing to Porsche Carrera Cup Asia demonstrates what can be achieved when performance, discipline and opportunity come together.”
Naquib began his motorsport journey in 2020 through competitive sim racing, where he developed his skills and technical understanding before progressing to on-track competition.
After being crowned champion of the Driven Dreamers category at the inaugural Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia in 2025, Naquib was selected for the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Talent Pool programme.
The initiative identifies and supports promising drivers through professional coaching, training camps and structured performance development — reflecting Porsche’s long-standing commitment to cultivating talent within the region.
What began in the virtual arena has evolved into a full-season campaign in Porsche’s premier one-make championship; Porsche Carrera Cup Asia — a highly competitive platform where identical cars spotlight driver’s abilities as the difference between first and the rest of the grid.
Now competing in the GT arena, Naquib steps onto one of Asia’s most demanding grids.
“My first introduction to motorsports was through sim racing, and I was hooked from the very beginning. Competing in the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia opened doors I never imagined possible," said Naquib.
"To now race with Porsche Malaysia, which has a strong racing heritage, is an absolute honour. I’m grateful for the belief and support from the team at Porsche Malaysia, as well as the guidance from Axle Motorsports throughout this journey. I look forward to representing Malaysia and Porsche on the international stage,” he added.
In preparation for the season ahead, Naquib recently completed the Official Test Day at Zhuhai International Circuit.
He set the overall fastest lap time of the session with a 1:35.391 lap time.
For the 2026 season, Team Porsche Malaysia will compete in a distinctive blue livery accented with orange highlights, reflecting the colours of the Sime Motors brand.
The roof of the 911 GT3 Cup (992.2) car also features the official layout of the Porsche Experience Centre Singapore.
This livery will be carried consistently across all championship rounds, with Naquib racing under car number 17.
The Porsche Experience Centre Singapore, anticipated to open in 2027, will be the first in the region and the 11th worldwide.
It promises to deliver immersive, on-track experiences for customers and fans.
The 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season opens in Shanghai, China, from March 14–15, before travelling to key circuits across the region.
The championship will return to Sepang International Circuit later in the season for Rounds 9, 10 and 11, featuring two sprint races and one endurance format weekend.
