PETALING JAYA: Porsche distributor Sime Darby Auto Performance (Porsche Malaysia) has upgraded the direct current (DC) chargers at two outlets and will complete the upgrade for two others by next month.

In addition, the company has also introduced a solar carport at its Penang outlet.

The enhancements are part of Sime Darby's move to achieve a 30% reduction in emissions by 2030.

The 350 kW capable charging facility is now available at Porsche Centre Ara Damansara and Porsche Centre Penang. They will soon be made available at Porsche Centre Sungai Besi and Porsche Centre Johor Baru next month.

The upgraded charging facilities feature twin-175 kW DC chargers, offering up to 350 kW charging speeds. The chargers allow two Taycan to be charged simultaneously at up to 175 kW each or one at 350kW.

This is the first time such charging capabilities are available within a dealership facility.

According to Porsche, a Taycan takes less than 23 minutes to charge from 5% to 80% at 350kW.

Porsche Malaysia first introduced 175kW charging at its dealerships in 2020 with the arrival of the Taycan in the country.

The fast chargers are restricted for use to Taycan owners. In addition, customers at Porsche Centre Ara Damansara get to enjoy gourmet refreshments at its lounge, while waiting for their Taycan to be charged.

As for the solar carport, Porsche Centre Penang has installed solar panels at its car park.

With 151 panels generating up to 81.51 kWp, the new solar carport could lead to an average reduction in electricity consumption of 30%, supporting the company’s ambition to reduce its carbon footprint. The chargers at Porsche Centre Penang will also be powered in part by solar energy.
