PETALING JAYA: Porsche Malaysia introduced on Monday the new Taycan GTS - the first Taycan with a range of over 500km (WLTP figures).

Priced from RM708,000 (with SST exemption), it's positioned above the Taycan 4S and below the Taycan Turbo. The price includes the Premium Package as standard.

With a range of up to 504km, the new sports model is also the first Taycan to break the 500-km mark. It will be available in Q2 2022 in Malaysia.

What's also noteworthy is that Taycan prices (inclusive of SST exemption) are up to RM200,000 cheaper following the government tax-free incentives for fully electric cars. The wagon-type Taycan Cross Turismo sees a reduction of as much as RM171,000.

Under Budget 2022, the government announced that imported EVs will get full import and excise duty exemption for two years till the end of 2023.

Locally assembled EVs will get excise duty as well as sales tax exemption for four years until the end of 2025.

GTS

GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport. Since the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS of 1963, these three letters have held special significance for Porsche fans.

Now, there is a derivative featuring this legendary combination of letters in every Porsche model series.

The Taycan GTS is the sporty all-rounder of the model range, with an impressive 440kW (590hp) of overboost power when using Launch Control. The sprint from zero to 100kph can be achieved within 3.7 seconds, building up to a maximum speed of 250kph.

As a representative of the latest Taycan generation, the GTS features particularly efficient drive strategy.

Other Taycan derivatives also receive this update in the new model year, and in practical terms, this translates to extended range across all models.

Adaptive air suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), is specifically adapted to the Taycan GTS to elevate lateral dynamics. The set-up of the optional rear-axle steering is also even sportier. The richer sound pattern of the modified Porsche Electric Sport Sound underscores the character of the new GTS model.

The exterior and interior are distinctive. There are numerous Black or dark details on the exterior, such as the front apron, the bases of the exterior mirrors and the side window trims – as is traditional on a GTS.

Numerous Black Race-Tex features in the interior underscore the elegant, dynamic ambience, as does the standard brushed aluminium interior package with Black anodised finish.

A panoramic roof with Sunshine Control is available as a new optional extra for the Taycan GTS. An electrically switchable liquid crystal film can change the roof from clear to matte at the touch of a button, protecting occupants from glare, without detracting the bright ambience of the interior.

The roof is divided into nine segments that can be switched individually – a world first in the automotive sector. In addition to the Clear and Matte settings, Semi and Bold can also be selected. These are predefined patterns with narrow or wide segments.
