Practical riding with Scorpion ADX-2 Galane

KUALA LUMPUR: Featuring a sporty shell, distinctive chin bar and discreet vents, the Scorpion ADX‑2 Galane helmet does not look out of place on kapcais, and naked or big adventure bikes.

Its satin navy, matte black and silver finishes suit riders who prefer quiet class to loud graphics.

I wore the Galane through Kuala Lumpur's gridlock and a single-day 400km ride and it nailed the sweet spot between style and utility.

The Galane has a standard‑oval shape that slips over my spectacles easily and distributes its 1.75kg weight so well I never felt it at all.

Yes, the Galane is a bit heavier compared to few other adventure helmets within the same class.

After 400km ride from Kuala Lumpur to Teluk Intan and back with an hour stop in between, there was no fatigue on my neck.

The extra weight also ensured a rock‑solid, rattle‑free feel at high speeds on the PLUS highway.

Meanwhile, the KwikWick liner in the helmet is plush, wicks sweat and can be removed easily for a wash and dries overnight indoor.

The breath guard and chin curtain kept the morning chill pleasant while riding on Karak highway enroute to Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

The flip‑front opens one‑handed and locks securely, handy at R&R toilets and traffic lights.

However the flip-front does not go back far back as I would have preferred but that did not bother me at all.

The helmet is fitted with clear, Pinlock-ready visor with a fog-resistant lens insert kept vision clear in rain and stop-go traffic.

The dropdown sun shade protected me from the midday glare, and the multi‑channel vents flowed ample air into the helmet without loud noise.

The helmet also gets the latest ECE 22.06 rating and emergency‑release cheek pads.

It is priced between RM1,249 to RM1,399, depending on the colour and design.

Scorpion helmets official importer and distributor in Malaysia is Qbee Group and it is available online at www.durianbikers.com.
