Proton drives DRB-Hicom growth in June quarter
By THE STAR | 23 August 2019KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-HICOM BHD made a net profit of RM46.2mil in the three- month ended June 30, driven by strong sales at subsidiary Proton Holdings Bhd.
"The group’s automotive businesses are expected to remain resilient," the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
"Public response to Proton's improved models, as well as new models by other marques in the portfolio should aid the performance," it added.
As of end of July, Proton has delivered 52,108 units of vehicles compared with 35,561 units sold in the same period last year.
The group, which businesses includes automotive, financial services, postal, property and construction, said revenue during the quarter was RM3.4bil.
The automotive division generated RM2.23bil in sales, while services contributed RM1.09bil.
