SHAH ALAM: The Proton e.MAS 5 has achieved 1,607 bookings within 24 hours of opening for booking on Oct 4, 2025.
The remarkable response follows a first-of-its-kind livestream for the "Open for Booking" announcement, held at Proton e.MAS Nilai.
Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (Pro-Net) CEO Zhang Qiang said, "Our mission has always been to make EV (electric vehicle) ownership accessible to all, and with the e.MAS 5, we’re turning that vision into reality. It’s truly Malaysia’s most affordable EV."
The livestream was simultaneously broadcast across eight TikTok pages and one Facebook page, including official Proton e.MAS channels.
It drew around 572,000 live viewers and has since surpassed 1 million total views post-launch.
With an estimated starting price between RM60,000 and RM80,000, the e.MAS 5 is billed as Malaysia’s first affordable EV.
It is touted as having the compact footprint of a B-segment car but offering C-segment interior space.
Other highlights are a class-leading turning radius, rear-wheel drive, and integrated live charging status.
Malaysians can either register interest through the official Proton e.MAS website or make a booking directly at any Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide.
