SHAH ALAM: The Proton e.MAS 5 has recorded over 14,600 bookings nationwide, as at end-2025.
Billed as Malaysia’s first affordable EV (electric vehicle), the e.MAS 5 was launched at end-October 2025 in two variants - the Prime (at RM59,800) and Premium (at RM72,800).
A special launch rebate of RM3,000 was given for the e.MAS 5 till end-2025, which brought prices down to RM56,800 and RM69,800 respectively.
In a statement, Proton said the e.MAS 5 had seen 213 units delivered, and a phased delivery rollout will continue into the first quarter of 2026 to fulfil the strong order book.
Meanwhile, as at end-2025, the Proton e.MAS 7 recorded a total of 9,336 units registered, including 8,677 units locally and 659 units exported.
Also, starting Jan 1, 2026, all Proton e.MAS owners sending their cars for maintenance or servicing will enjoy free car wash (at selected service centres) and free charging up to 80% (depending on customer availability).
“2025 marked an important head start for Proton e.MAS, not just in terms of growth, but in the real-world impact our vehicles are making every day,” said Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang.
“With 9,549 e.MAS vehicles now in operation, we are seeing how our e.MAS owners can contribute to cleaner air, quieter journeys and reduced fuel consumption through ordinary driving.”
Meanwhile, e.MAS 5 and 7 owners are estimated to help offset up to 10 million litres of petrol consumption per year, avoiding up to 21,000 tonnes of tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions while lowering nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.
Proton e.MAS owners also help to reduce urban traffic noise at low speeds since EVs generate six to 10dB less noise compared to internal combustion vehicles.
More importantly, the shift to electric driving delivers immediate human-centric benefits at street level, from quieter commutes to reduced exhaust exposure in densely populated areas.
