Proton e.MAS 5 enters Singapore at S$158,988 (RM501,900)

SUBANG JAYA: Proton has introduced the compact e.MAS 5 in Singapore, giving its international electric vehicle (EV) business a boost.

Distributed by Vincar Group, the e.MAS 5 is the second Proton EV model offered in Singapore after the e.MAS 7 that was launched last year.

The e.MAS 5 comes with an exclusive launch price of S$158,988 (RM501,900) and gets bundled with charging credit, S$5,000 (RM15,800) ownership benefits, zero downpayment, a 10-year battery warranty, cross-border warranty, and complimentary Malaysia-Singapore data roaming.

The arrival of the e.MAS 5 in Singapore builds on the success of a model that has already earned widespread international recognition.

Together with its Geely equivalent, the e.MAS 5 has recorded cumulative global sales exceeding 610,000 units, reflecting strong customer acceptance across multiple markets.

Proton International Corp chief executive officer Edmund Lim Meng Thong said the introduction of the e.MAS 5 followed the encouraging reception received by the e.MAS 7 and reflected the company's long-term commitment to building export volume to meet long-term goals.

"It also positions Proton as a brand that is able to offer products that combine advanced technology, safety and value to a regional audience, opening the doors to further expanding our reach," he said.

Singapore represents one of Southeast Asia's most competitive automotive markets and serves as an important showcase for automotive brands looking to establish a presence in the region.

Lim also said Proton's ambition extends beyond just exporting vehicles.

"We are building a sustainable regional business centred on strong partnerships, excellent customer ownership experiences and products that meet the mobility needs of each market.

"Every new market entered by Proton strengthens the brand internationally and supports Malaysia's aspirations to become a recognised player in the future mobility industry," he said.
