Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV: Over 6,500 bookings in 2 months

SHAH ALAM: Since its launch in February 2026, the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV (plug-in hybrid) has accumulated over 6,500 bookings within two months.

“With fuel prices rising and households becoming more conscious of long‑term costs, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is arriving at the right moment for Malaysians,” said Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang.

“Buyers appreciate its electric‑first efficiency, petrol‑assisted range, and premium driving feel, all at an attainable price point."

Proton's data shows that 75% of e.MAS 7 PHEV buyers are family men, with the majority aged above 36 years old.

The e.MAS 7 PHEV has a demonstrated fuel consumption of 4.3 litres per 100km even in battery-depleted conditions.

Pro-Net says that with prices starting from RM105,800 for the Prime variant, it offers an affordable entry into the PHEV C-SUV (sport utility vehicle) segment.

The majority of e.MAS 7 PHEV customers (63%) also traded in their existing petrol vehicles such as compact SUVs and sedans.

Pro-Net says this demonstrates a decisive shift toward electrification, as Malaysians increasingly view the e.MAS 7 PHEV as a primary vehicle rather than a secondary option.

Also, based on the customer survey conducted, a majority of consumers initially were put off by PHEVs in general due to the perceived high maintenance costs and complex drivetrain system.

But the e.MAS 7 PHEV overcomes those barriers by combining electric efficiency through its EM-i Advanced Hybrid Technology with petrol-assisted flexibility via its 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), delivering smooth, EV (electric vehicle)‑first acceleration with petrol support when required.

The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV also stands out from its fully electric sibling, the Proton e.MAS 7, with a distinct look and feel.

The full-width front illuminated bar gives the vehicle a modern, commanding presence, and the exterior colour options especially the crowd favourite, Aquamarine Blue, delivers a premium look.

The e.MAS 7 PHEV also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to power external devices directly from the vehicle.

Inside, features such as the head‑up display (HUD), wireless charging, 360-degree camera with 3D view, and powered ventilated seats elevate convenience.

These technology upgrades were cited as key reasons for purchase among professional and managerial buyers, who make up a large portion of e.MAS 7 PHEV customers.
