SUBANG JAYA: Proton has launched a comprehensive support initiative for the victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire incident which includes aid of RM250,000 and free damage assessment of Proton cars.
Proton said the RM250,000 is allocated for immediate needs of the displaced residents, including those sheltered at different temporary evacuation centres such as at Dewan Masjid Putra Heights and Subang Jaya City Council’s multi-purpose hall, Dewan Camelia.
Proton said many affected residents are expressing that the financial aid they are receiving is not enough and therefore hoped this latest contribution will help to alleviate some of the burden faced.
The national car maker also said six of its service centres in the vicinity have been designated to offer free, comprehensive assessments of all Proton vehicles affected by the fire and will then assist with insurance claims.

This service aims to accurately determine the extent of damage and provide owners with clear pathways for repair and restoration, whether the affected Proton cars are parked at ground zero or were moved out during the incident.
Proton chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong said the devastation caused by the fire in Putra Harmoni is deeply concerning.
"We are committed to providing meaningful support to the affected community. We hope that this financial aid will provide some relief to those who are suffering," Dr Li said.
