Proton S70 giving local taxi industry a boost

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton's S70 sedan is giving a boost to the local taxi industry under the National Madani Taxi Rejuvenation Programme.

The stylish sedan was selected for its ability to meet the demanding requirements of high-mileage public mobility operations while offering a spacious cabin with generous legroom and rear-seat comfort for short urban journeys or longer intercity trips.

Its large luggage compartment also enhances practicality for airport transfers while its refined ride quality helps reduce fatigue for drivers who spend long hours behind the wheel.

Powered by a responsive yet fuel-efficient 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, the S70 offers a combination of performance and operating efficiency required for daily commercial use.

Proton's nationwide aftersales network and proven reliability also promises operators with lower ownership costs while maximising vehicle uptime.

The rejuvenation programme was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday.

Under the programme, eligible operators will be able to acquire a specially prepared S70 Premium configured for public mobility service.

The S70 will be exclusively offered in Ruby Red and comes with additional equipment required for licensed public transport operations.

Incentives provided by the Government and Proton will enable fleet renewal to be more accessible to eligible operators.

Proton deputy chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa said the company has grown alongside Malaysia for more than four decades.

"We have always believed our responsibility extends beyond building cars. We have a role in supporting national development, strengthening local industry and improving everyday mobility for Malaysians.

"The National Madani taxi Rejuvenation Programme demonstrates what can be achieved when the Government and industry work together with a common purpose. We are honoured the S70 has been selected to support this effort because it reflects confidence in Malaysian engineering, manufacturing capability and the quality of our products.

"The S70 offers the comfort, space, efficiency, safety and reliability needed for intensive daily operations, making it a practical mobility solution that benefits both drivers and passengers," he said.
