KUCHING: The 2026 Proton S70 i-GT 1.5 has surpassed 2,000 bookings across East Malaysia since bookings opened on Sept 7.
Proton had also brought the model closer to customers in Sarawak through its three-day roadshow at Vivacity Megamall from Oct 9 to 11.
The roadshow also featured "Follow, Share and Reward" and "Test Drive and Reward" activities, with eligible participants receiving a surprise gift.
In Sarawak, the model has recorded more than 1,000 bookings so far.
Meanwhile, Proton sales in Sarawak increased from 4,270 units in 2018 to 9,870 units in 2026, representing a growth of 131%.
Proton is also strengthening ownership support across the state.
Customers are supported by 16 authorised Proton service centres, with trained service advisors and technicians providing maintenance and repair support, alongside access to genuine Proton parts.
Parts supply is supported by the Regional Parts Centre in Kuching.
“The strong interest from customers in both Sabah and Sarawak demonstrates the appeal of a sedan that combines space, comfort, convenience and safety in a well equipped package," said Proton deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.
“Our Sarawak roadshow gives us an opportunity to engage directly with customers, introduce them to the S70 i-GT 1.5 and allow them to experience its features and driving performance firsthand."
Priced from RM58,800 in East Malaysia, the S70 i-GT 1.5 is available in Lite and Prime variants, powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine paired with a CVT and torque converter.
The sedan combines a spacious cabin with 10 class-leading features across space and comfort, convenience and connectivity, and safety.
These include an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, Key Remote Engine Start, one-touch auto up/down windows with anti-trap, five USB ports and a reverse camera.
Both variants also feature an extensive soft-touch instrument panel, while Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available from October 2026.
Safety is supported by a five-function Rear Side Radar System, incorporating Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning.
A reverse camera and rear seat reminder are also standard across both variants.
The S70 i-GT 1.5 powertrain has undergone more than 5,400 hours of dynamometer testing and over 412,000km of road testing as part of its validation programme.
