SUBANG JAYA: The Proton S70 C-segment sedan will get two new variants (Lite and Prime) powered by an i-GT 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Price tags are estimated to be below RM60,000 and bookings can be made now at authorised Proton dealers.
Customers who book and register Proton S70 Lite and Prime variants by Dec 31, 2026 will can get an exclusive early bird reward, with further details to be announced at launch.
Proton says the new additions to the S70 range builds on the strong market momentum of the model, which has recorded average monthly sales of more than 2,500 units in 2026.
“The S70 has always been about giving Malaysians an elevated driving experience with the space, comfort and features they value in everyday driving. The introduction of the new variants expands that proposition to customers who are looking for an affordable yet well-equipped sedan that offers generous cabin space and a comfortable driving experience," said Proton deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.
"At the same time, we have ensured that key features are available across the range, giving customers greater choice without compromising on what matters in everyday driving.”
Proton says both variants come with three selectable drive modes, and 10 class-leading features spanning space and comfort, intelligence connectivity, as well as convenient and comprehensive safety.
The wider body provides greater shoulder room for rear passengers, while the near-flat rear floor makes better use of the rear passenger area.
Also, the S70 Lite and Prime variants deliver class-leading NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) performance, creating a quieter cabin.
Comfort is further enhanced by leatherette seats, while the premium feel of the cabin is elevated by a soft-touch instrument panel and thoughtful interior detailing.
Both variants feature wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while also offering features including Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold, all windows Auto Up/Down with Anti Trap, remote engine start and five USB ports, with equipment varying by variant.
Safety is supported by six airbags, front and rear parking sensors and a suite of driver-assistance through Rear Side Radar System that consist of Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning.
Customers also benefit from Rear Seat Reminder and Reverse Camera as standard.
