Proton's 2025 sales volume highest in October

SHAH ALAM: Proton closed October 2025 by achieving its highest sales volume of 2025.

Group sales of 15,575 units (domestic and export) is an improvement of 16.3% over the previous month and brings the company’s year-to-date (YTD) sales volume to 129,872 units, a comfortable 3% ahead of 2024.

In tandem with the rise in Proton sales, total industry volume (TIV) in October is estimated to have rebounded by 32.3% to 77,377 units, its highest level in 2025 as the Malaysian automotive industry strives to achieve a second consecutive year where sales surpass 800,000 units.

With two full sales months still to be accounted for, chances are high for total car sales in Malaysia to once again lead all countries in the Asean region.

The outgoing Saga model is setting records before the impending launch of its replacement.

By achieving 8,373 units sold in October, sales hit a high point last achieved in July 2013, pushing the model up to second position in the national sales table.

The Saga's year-to-date (YTD) sales for the first 10 months of the year now stand at 59,107 units.

Another success story is the Proton X50, which has been resetting expectations since the new model was launched on July 24 this year.

Another 2,693 units were sold in October bringing total sales for August – October to 10,418 units.

YTD sales are now 24.7% ahead of 2024 at 23,847 units, as Malaysian consumers continue to be impressed by Proton’s B-segment SUV (sport utility vehicle) class leader.

After a torrid previous month when sales declined to low points for 2025, October saw a welcome rebound for the Proton X70, S70, S90, and Persona.

The biggest gainer was the X70 as the C-segment SUV posted sales of 680 units, a gain of 56.3%.

Next was the S70, the sales leader for C-segment sedans, with 1,402 units sold, an increase of 43.2% when compared to September.

Sales for the X90, the sales leader for D-segment SUVs, grew by 7.7% in October to 209 units while the Persona experienced sales growth of 4.7% as sales landed at 1,215 units.

The all-electric Proton e.MAS 7 continued to dominate EV (electric vehicle) sales with 758 units sold, bringing YTD volume to 7,413 units.
