Carsome Certified country general manager Alan Cheah said the main priorities are to ensure that the refurbished cars are safe, comfortable and looking good.

He said the centre handles more than 30 types of auto brands and used cars selected for refurbishment have to be less than 10 years old with mileage less than 150,000km.
"Used cars selected also have to be free from major damage caused by accident, fire and flooding to ensure that our customers will have peace of mind.
"If a car has additional accessories that were not factory fitted by the manufacturer such as sports rims and bodykits, we will leave them on," he said.

Upon arrival at Carsome Certified Lab, cars will be given internal and external inspections along with damaged portions noted down.
Aside from checking the engine and transmission, cars will also get their wheels realigned with tyres and brake pads inspected for remaining service life.
"If the tyre has less than 2mm of tread left and brake pads less than 4mm, they will be replaced as we want our certified cars to be safe," Cheah said.

Other refurbishment work include a full engine oil change, air conditioner servicing and replacement of worn or damaged part like shock absorbers and windscreens among others.
"If the cars to be refurbished have technical issues and are still under factory warranty, we will send those vehicles to the manufacturer's service centres for rectification so as not to void the warranty," he said.

Carsome senior manager Chew Kim Hong said the refurbishment centre is also equipped with respraying and colour-matching facilities for fixing damaged paintwork.
"Paint used are also from the same suppliers to car assemblers to ensure the best possible match," he said.
The interior will also be carefully cleaned and sanitised along with repairs on torn seat cushions if any.
Cheah said all window tinting would be removed before the cars are sent for Puspakom inspection at its stockyard located nearby.
All finished cars will be photographed on a revolving turntable in an on-site studio with their images uploaded to the Carsome website.

"Images on our website will be those of actual cars so that the customer will be viewing the same cars they will be buying.
"We do not use stock or brochure images from manufacturers to ensure transparency and professionalism," Cheah said.

Cheah said the company had three customers who claimed the guarantee as they changed their minds after driving the cars for a few days.
"One customer agreed to swap for a different car, while the other two opted for refunds.

Carsome plans to open similar refurbishment centres in the next 12 months across Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
