PETALING JAYA: The Range Rover Velar that CarSifu announced on March 3 will be coming to Malaysia in the second quarter of 2018.

The Velar is now open for booking at all Land Rover showrooms nationwide. Customers can also register their interest and receive updates at the local Land Rover site.

Price and specifications of the Malaysian-bound Velar will be announced closer to launch.

In its home market, it is offered in seven variants and come with 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with outputs ranging from 178hp to 375hp (top petrol variant). All use an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV comes with slender full-LED headlights and flush deployable door handles that contribute to the low drag coefficient of 0.32, making it the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced.

The Touch Pro Duo infotainment system features two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens that form the centrepiece of the minimalist cabin, and blends a futuristic, elegant feel with an intuitive, engaging interface and unrivalled performance and functionality.

The Velar’s body is built with aluminium-intensive monocoque using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. Aluminium alloys account for more than 81% of the body.

The vehicle is equipped with double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension that promises agile handling, high ride comfort and refinements. Land Rover said the model has also high levels of crash protection.

It is designed and engineered at Jaguar Land Rover’s development centres in Britain and will be manufactured at the company’s Solihull factory.
