BANGKOK: Neta Auto has begun local assembly of the Neta V-II following the opening of its electric vehicle (EV) plant here, its first outside China.
Deliveries to Thai customers will start in April after the model is launched at the March 27- April 7 Bangkok Motor Show.
Neta Auto has been selling the fully imported Neta V in Thailand since 2022. The facelifted V, featuring an upgraded exterior and interior, is known as V-II. It is marketed as the Neta Aya in China.
The company's other products are the Neta GT, S and X.
With an annual production capacity of 20,000 vehicles, the Thai factory will serve as a key manufacturing hub for Neta's right-hand-drive electric vehicles.
The factory will prioritise localised production to meet the green mobility needs of the Thai market.
The Thai facility serves as a key starting point for Neta's global strategy. It will help Neta in enhancing its electric vehicle production capabilities and will enable the company to meet the rapidly growing demand of the Thai electric vehicle market by offering a variety of models equipped with the latest technologies.
In 2023, Neta sold over 20,000 cars overseas, securing the top spot among new energy vehicle companies and marking a 567% year-on-year growth.
In January and February 2024, Neta's overseas sales reached 4,516 units, ranking first among new energy vehicle exporters.
NETA plans for 2024 is to expand its global sales network to cover 60 countries, establishing 300 overseas sales and service outlets.
