PARIS: Renault has unveiled an extensively updated version of its Austral SUV.
The facelift brings a sharper exterior design, enhanced interior comfort, upgraded hybrid performance, and advanced onboard technology, reinforcing the model’s position in the highly competitive C-segment.
Originally launched in 2022, the Austral now adopts Renault’s latest design cues, seen in models like the Rafale.
Its redesigned front end features a more sculpted bonnet and bumper, as well as a new grille, complemented by 3D diamond motifs and high-tech lighting.

Adaptive LED Vision headlights are standard, with Matrix LED lights fitted to higher trims.
At the rear, refreshed styling enhances the tailgate’s visual appeal, while unique rear lights offer a distinctive signature.
Inside, the cabin features new front seats with improved support and fresh upholstery, including sustainable materials in certain trims.
Laminated glass, new door seals, and improved soundproofing contribute to a quieter, more refined ride.

The Austral is also a practical SUV, with a sliding and reclining rear bench offering up to 27.4 cm of legroom. Boot capacity ranges from 527 to 1,736 litres depending on configuration.
Under the bonnet, the Austral is powered by Renault’s E-Tech full hybrid system, producing 200hp through a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors.
It uses a clutchless multi-mode automatic gearbox, optimised for smoother acceleration and responsive performance.
The powertrain delivers combined WLTP fuel consumption of 4.7 litres/100km and emissions of 106g/km CO2.

Connectivity is bolstered by the OpenR Link multimedia system, with twin screens and Google built-in services including Maps, Assistant and Play. A head-up display and over-the-air software updates further enhance the digital experience.
The Austral offers up to 30 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Active Driver Assist for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, My Safety Switch for customisable safety settings, and a comprehensive suite of parking, lane-keeping and emergency braking features.
Three trims are available—techno, techno esprit Alpine, and iconic esprit Alpine—with sportier design touches and bespoke interior finishes for the Alpine models.
The facelifted Austral is built in Spain.
