PETALING JAYA: A total of 173 RFID lanes will be opened at 83 toll plazas on PLUS highways from April 1. These include the LPT2 highway along the East Coast.

PLUS Malaysia Bhd said in a statement RFID offers users the ease of cashless toll payment and the convenience of instant reload via online banking and e-wallets.

Toll payments using the Touch 'n Go card and SmartTAG will still be accepted at all toll plazas.

“We expect an increase in RFID demand from our highway customers, which number around 1.7 million drivers," said PLUS Malaysia managing director Datuk Azman Ismail.

With PLUS now offering RFID, the customer journey, which used to be from Juru to Damansara toll, has now been extended into urban areas like Kuala Lumpur and suburban areas like Wangsa Maju or Kajang.

“With RFID, highway customers will no longer have to deal with Touch ‘n Go card reload as topping up can be done online through mobile phones and the Touch ‘n Go eWallet application, which are linked to RFID tags stickered on vehicles,” said Azman.
