RFID tags to be bundled with selected Chery, Omoda Jaecoo and iCaur cars

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Corporate Malaysia and Touch ’n Go have inked a deal that will see branded RFID tags offered as a bundled item with selected new Chery, Omoda Jaecoo and iCaur models sold.

Chery Corporate Malaysia said this initiative demonstrates the company's forward-looking approach to vehicle readiness by providing customers with RFID at the point of sale to supporting seamless tolling experiences.

It also highlights the role of RFID as an important enabler within Malaysia’s evolving mobility landscape.

RFID is designed to be interoperable and is compatible with any Single Lane Fast Flow (SLFF) or Multi-lane Fast Flow (MLFF) systems that may be deployed in the future.

Chery Corporate Malaysia executive vice president Men Lin Bo said, “By integrating RFID tags at the point of sale, we are empowering our customers with immediate, hassle-free access to Malaysia’s evolving tolling infrastructure. Working with Touch ’n Go aligns with our commitment to customer convenience and our support for the government’s digital mobility vision.”

Touch ’n Go Sdn Bhd CEO Praba Sangarajoo added, “Our collaboration also highlights the automotive industry’s recognition of RFID as an important tool, reflecting a shared belief that RFID is not merely a payment system, but it is an essential tool for the future of mobility in Malaysia.”

Both companies will also collaborate on upcoming marketing campaigns aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding, and usage of RFID.

Chery Corporate Malaysia, which oversees the Chery, Omoda Jaecoo and iCAUR brands, has rapidly established itself as one of the leading automotive players in the local market.
